And the sunflowers are out too @twunflowercomp
Seemed to have waited a long time for these too, but they’re beautiful now in flower . . .

It’s seeming to take forever, but soon we could be there. The smallest of our four sunflowers has now overtaken the other three and is now some 10ft tall, adding three or four inches every day. Flowers are slowly developing so I’m hoping they’ll be out soon.

This sunflower was the smallest when planted . . .
. . . now it is almost 7ft tall and just forming a flower.

I’m not sure anyone can beat @llamakevin ‘s magnificent field of sunflowers. Our tallest one continues to grow, but no sign of a flower yet . . .
However, the tomatoes are really coming on: lots of flowers and fruit forming.
We could be tomato-ed out in a few weeks.

I go away for three days and look what happens . . .
Were these the beans that Jack swapped for the cow?
These are the first sunflowers I’ve grown successfully so I’m quite pleased. The fun of the @twunflowercomp is watching the sunflowers grow . . . and grow . . . and grow . . . and grow . . .
Can’t wait for the flowers!

Three days away and the sunflowers have shot up . . .
They obviously enjoy the combination of warmth, light and rain . . .
. . . although I’d like to know who is munching away at the leaves.

Who else is growing sunflowers? Have you entered the sunny sunflower @twunflowercomp on twitter? It’s just for fun.

This is one of our four sunflowers in our garden.
How tall will it grow? Will it be a winner? We’ll have to see.
Follow theĀ @twunflowercomp.

Following an invitation from @stu_art_ist and @TweetsBySkeet, I have joined the @TwunFlowerComp on twitter.
What is is this? A competition to encourage people to grow sunflowers for fun . . . nothing more.
I’ve planted some sunflower seeds outside and some inside. Following a gardening tip, rather than buying peat plant plugs I put some compost into half a toilet roll inner with some newspaper to stop it falling out the bottom.
Today the first sunflower inside raised its head, although still with its seed ‘hat’ on.

The fun is starting.
If you want to join in, all you need is a packet of sunflower seeds, which you can plant inside or out and a digital camera so that you post photos.
As well as twitter, there is also a facebook Twunflowercomp page.
Good luck!
