Understanding leads to gentleness

Out in the rain this morning, we played ball.

I threw it and our dog brought it back.

He went to drop it in my outstretched hand, but I almost dropped it so he quickly grabbed it again with his teeth and then dropped it securely into my hand.

It made me think of how we work as a team, understand each other without words.

That’s what I love about living with dogs.

He has very powerful jaws and an impressive set of teeth, but he is so gentle.

I trust him and he trusts me: a wonderful understanding.

If only there were greater understanding between people. We waste so much time arguing which would be much better spent enjoying life. And so many arguments are about how we feel we look to other people, our standing and reputation. What does it really matter?
