Over the past 10 years I’ve owned lots of pairs of wellington boots. It’s not that I have an obsession with them, but they just don’t seem to last very long. Whether expensive, cheap or mid-range, inevitably I experience my socks suddenly soaking up water as I walk through a puddle or paddle in the sea.
After telling several dog-walker friends how fantastic my current wellies are, the inevitable happened: a large gash appeared on the top of my left boot. It must have perished.
What should I do? I considered buying a new pair, but I really liked these boots and, apart from the hole, have years of life left in them.
I searched on the internet and found Stormsure, who supply special glues and adhesive tapes for manufacturing and repairing household, industrial and outdoor sporting products. I thought I’d give it a go and ordered a tube.
It took just a couple of minutes to apply the adhesive, wearing the protective gloves provided, and I let the repair ‘cure’ for 16 hours.
I’ve worn the boots in the past couple of days in rain and mud and they are as good as new. I’ve even tested the repaired boot in a bucket of water in the above video.
Thank you, Stormsure.
